Tom Waits, born Thomas Alan Waits in Pomona, California, began his singular career in the 1970s folk scene, signing with Asylum Records and releasing his debut album, Closing Time, in 1973. Known for his deep, gravelly voice, his music has since evolved to incorporate diverse influences including jazz, Delta blues, opera, and experimental techniques, often in collaboration with his wife Kathleen Brennan. While Waits himself rarely tours, tribute nights celebrate his extensive catalogue of grit-soaked ballads and shadowed storytelling. Expect an evening steeped in the poetic, off-kilter world of a true American original.
