PROTOMARTYR

Detroit's Protomartyr, formed in 2010, have carved out a distinct space in modern post-punk, with their 2012 debut No Passion All Technique setting the stage for a discography that includes their recent 2023 release, Formal Growth in the Desert. Vocalist Joe Casey's deadpan delivery anchors the band's sound, which features guitarist Greg Ahee's jagged riffs and a propulsive rhythm section from bassist Scott Davidson and drummer Alex Leonard. Their music blends moody atmospherics with a raw sensibility, evoking a sense of universal reckoning. It's a sound built for introspection in a dimly lit room.
