BESS ATWELL

Brighton-based singer-songwriter Bess Atwell, born Bess Hildick-Smith, has cultivated a reputation for emotionally raw indie folk since her 2016 debut album, Hold Your Mind. Her 2021 breakout, Already, Always, and her 2024 album, Light Sleeper, produced by Aaron Dessner of The National, showcase her gift for introspective storytelling and restrained melodies. Atwell's sound layers expansive, atmospheric textures beneath her distinct, crystalline vocals, creating a delicate yet direct emotional resonance. Expect vulnerable, detailed, and unflinchingly honest songs that feel like private confidences.
