YOUNG FRIEND

Vancouver's own Drew Tarves, known as young friend, has carved out a distinct space in indie pop since his 2019 debut EP, Yours Kindly, and his JUNO Award nomination in 2024. His sound, often co-produced with David Marinelli, blends fuzzy, jangly indie-rock riffs with heartfelt pop melodies and confessional, introspective lyrics, creating a nostalgic yet immediate atmosphere. With his upcoming sophomore album, New Entertainment, due November 6, 2026, expect a tactile, band-first approach channeling classic rock influences. It's a sound built for self-reflection and late-night drives.
