Miami-born country and Americana outfit The Mavericks, co-founded in 1989 by Raul Malo and Paul Deakin, carved a unique path with their genre-bending sound. Their 1994 breakthrough album, What a Crying Shame, released on MCA Nashville, propelled them to commercial success. While lead vocalist Raul Malo passed away in December 2025, the band continues to tour as The Mavericks & Friends, with guest vocalists James Otto and Emily West joining current members Deakin, Eddie Perez, and Jerry Dale McFadden, and the recently returned Robert Reynolds. Expect a vibrant blend of country, Latin, and rockabilly, all anchored by a powerful, emotive delivery.
