Composed by Italian master Gioachino Rossini, The Barber of Seville premiered in Rome in 1816, quickly becoming one of the most celebrated comic operas of all time. Rossini, born in Pesaro, Italy, was known as "The Italian Mozart" for his prolific output and gift for melody, and "Signor Crescendo" for his signature orchestral build-ups. The opera's vibrant score is a masterclass in bel canto, featuring agile vocal lines, rapid-fire melodies, and a dynamic, effervescent energy. It's a joyous, high-spirited romp, full of wit and charm.
