MEI SEMONES

Ann Arbor, Michigan native Mei Semones has quickly become a standout, blending jazz-influenced indie pop with a unique bilingual approach since her 2022 debut EP, Tsukino. Now based in Brooklyn, the Berklee-trained guitarist and vocalist released her critically acclaimed debut album, Animaru, in 2025 via Bayonet Records, followed by her sophomore album, Howl, in early 2027 on Verve/Interscope. Her sound weaves intricate guitar work, bossa nova rhythms, and chamber pop arrangements, with lyrics that gracefully switch between English and Japanese. Expect sophisticated melodies and a delicate, yet adventurous, musicality.
