A MacArthur Fellowship recipient, American reedist Ken Vandermark has been a cornerstone of the Chicago avant-garde jazz scene since the 1990s, known for his prolific output and collaborations with innovators like Peter Brötzmann and Joe McPhee. He joins forces with Vancouver's own James Meger and Kenton Loewen, two of Canada's most compelling improvisers. Meger is a bassist known for his work with groups like Peggy Lee's Echo Painting and Sick Boss, while Loewen, a Juno nominee, is celebrated for his drumming with Dan Mangan + Blacksmith and his recent solo album, Petrol Matches Boom, released in May 2024 via Drip Audio. Expect a dynamic interplay of seasoned improvisation and adventurous sonic exploration.
