Born Olubukola Joy Oladokun in Casa Grande, Arizona, the singer-songwriter has become a vital voice in contemporary folk, R&B, and pop since her 2016 debut album, Carry. Oladokun, who is a queer Black woman and daughter of Nigerian immigrants, signed with Amigo/Verve Forecast/Republic Records in 2021, releasing her critically acclaimed album In Defense of My Own Happiness. Her sound blends soulful vocals with honest, often introspective lyrics, exploring themes of identity, faith, mental health, and social justice. Expect deeply personal storytelling delivered with a warm, inviting presence.
