with Genre Is Death

Hanover, New Hampshire native Jon Spencer has been a defining figure in noise rock and alternative rock for decades, first gaining recognition with Pussy Galore in the mid-'80s and then with the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, whose 1993 album Extra Width helped cement their frantic, genre-bending sound. His latest work, Songs of Personal Loss and Protest, released in June 2026 on his own Shove Records, sees him collaborating with Kendall Wind and Macky "Spider" Bowman of The Bobby Lees. Spencer's sound is a raw, combustible blend of distorted guitars, theremin squalls, and howled vocals, pushing garage punk into new realms of rock and roll expressionism. Expect a sweat-soaked, soul-shaking performance.
