Toronto-based pianist and composer Jeremy Ledbetter formed CaneFire in 2005, an explosive Caribbean jazz ensemble that quickly gained international recognition with their 2006 debut album, Kaiso Blue, followed by 2010's Pandemonium. The septet, featuring musicians from Canada, Cuba, and Trinidad, is known for its dynamic blend of Caribbean traditions, Latin jazz, and modern jazz, with steelpan virtuoso Mark Mosca often taking a leading role alongside horns. Their sound is a high-octane fusion of Cuban rhythms and intricate jazz musicianship, delivering a rollicking and joyful experience. Expect an energetic performance that shatters conventional notions of Caribbean music.
