GWAR

Richmond, Virginia's GWAR, formed in 1984, are less a band and more an institution, known for their elaborate sci-fi mythology and grotesque costumes, first showcased on their 1988 debut, Hell-O, released on Shimmy Disc. This collective of musicians and artists, known as Slave Pit Inc., has cultivated a career out of shock rock, blending thrash metal and punk with over-the-top, fluid-spewing stage shows. Currently touring in support of their upcoming media release The Return of Gor Gor and a 20th-anniversary remaster of their 2006 album Beyond Hell, their sound remains a relentless assault of aggressive guitars and bellowing vocals. Expect a spectacle of satirical, blood-soaked chaos.
