FAURÉ QUARTETT

Formed in Karlsruhe, Germany, in 1995, the Fauré Quartett has become a leading force in chamber music, taking its name from French composer Gabriel Fauré. Comprising Dirk Mommertz (piano), Erika Geldsetzer (violin), Sascha Frömbling (viola), and Konstantin Heidrich (cello), the ensemble signed with Deutsche Grammophon in 2006, releasing acclaimed recordings of works by Mozart and Brahms. Their sound blends classical precision with an adventurous spirit, evident in their arrangements of Mussorgsky's "Pictures at an Exhibition" and their 2009 "Popsongs" album. Expect a performance of refined artistry and emotional depth, well-suited for the Vancouver Playhouse.
