EMANCIPATOR

Portland, Oregon-based producer Douglas Appling, known as Emancipator, has been a mainstay in electronic music since his 2006 self-released debut, Soon It Will Be Cold Enough. Reissued by Nujabes' Hydeout Productions, his sound blends downtempo and trip-hop with classical and world music influences, often featuring live instrumentation from collaborators like violinist Ilya Goldberg. Emancipator's recent "Chrysalis Tour" and latest single "The Painted Lady" (July 2026) showcase his evolving, lush soundscapes, built on intricate beats and ethereal melodies. His music offers a journey through richly textured, meditative sound.
