DIGABLE PLANETS

The Philadelphia-formed, Brooklyn-based trio Digable Planets, comprised of Ishmael "Butterfly" Butler, Mariana "Ladybug Mecca" Vieira, and Craig "Doodlebug" Irving, carved out a unique space in hip-hop with their 1993 debut, Reachin' (A New Refutation of Time and Space), and its Grammy-winning single "Rebirth of Slick (Cool Like Dat)". Their sound is a sophisticated blend of jazz-infused samples, laid-back rhythms, and intricate, socially conscious lyricism. Currently, the group is on their 2026 Blowout Comb 30th Anniversary Tour, performing their influential 1994 album in full. Expect a deep dive into their smooth, intellectual, and undeniably cool grooves.
