DEJA NU

Vancouver's own Deja Nu is an eight-piece soul, funk, R&B, and jazz fusion ensemble, featuring a lineup of seasoned musicians. Guitarist and vocalist Chuck Johnson has toured with Grammy-nominated saxophonist Najee, appearing on his 2015 album You, Me, and Forever. The band's "She-Section Horns" include Caley Honeywell, who has shared stages with Michael Bublé and Colin James, alongside trumpeter Jocelyn Waugh and trombonist Janine King. Their sound is anchored by a Hammond B3 and a deep-pocket rhythm section, reimagining Motown and Philly soul with a touch of seventies fusion. Expect tight horn arrangements and extended solos over hypnotic vamps.
