Tampa native Christie Lenée, named "Acoustic Guitarist of the Year" in 2019 by Music Radar and one of the "Best Acoustic Guitarists in the World Right Now" by Guitar World in 2020, has carved a niche with her virtuosic fingerstyle. Her latest album, Coming Alive (2022), sees her expanding into a more electric, rock-oriented sound, co-produced by Matthew Odmark (Jars of Clay) and featuring drummer Keith Carlock (Steely Dan) and bassist Adam Nitti. Lenée's playing is a dynamic blend of intricate melodies, percussive body-slapping, and two-handed fretboard tapping, often incorporating loops and vocal effects. It's a captivating display of technical mastery and heartfelt expression.
