Edmonton-born multi-instrumentalist Bill Runge has been a fixture in the Canadian jazz scene for over three decades, notably winning the Grand Prix at the CBC-Alcan Jazz Competition in Montreal with his quintet "The Creatures of Habit" in 1990. He has since released several albums, including 2002's Acid Test and 2006's A Tribute to the South American Masters, both on Maximum Jazz. His saxophone style blends influences from jazz giants like John Coltrane and Michael Brecker with a modern compositional approach. Expect a sophisticated, deeply rooted jazz experience.
